This was the artwork I came up with for the brown packaging: I wanted something that would really work with the design of the packaging, so I did the interior illustrations to look like roots from which the flowers and new life sprung. When the CD was removed from the packaging, the flowers stood on their own. I really liked this design, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to work with the printers as closely as I would’ve needed to in order to pull this design off.

The design for the color, glossy version was also really fun to work on. In this case, the CD was complete hidden by the wallet until it was removed. I wanted to play with this, so the illustration on wallet is of the tree about to bloom, and when you remove the CD the flowers have bloomed in full.

In both versions, the interior booklet stayed the same. Here is some photo editing and illustration work I did for the booklet:

In the end, the color version is what went to print. Working on this album was an amazing opportunity, the music is fantastic and it was a real treat to try to make artwork to match it. Be sure to watch the evelyn.is website for your chance to buy this amazing album!

I had the pleasure of illustrating the cover of Trisha Wooldridge’s upcoming book, Mirror of Hearts (soon to be available an an ebook!) This was another really great project to work on, both because I love working in this style and also because the book is exactly the kind of chilling retelling of a fairy tale that I love. Testing a technique for a larger art piece…. like where it’s going so far!

This is the cover image for J. Kelley Anderson’s Casting Shadows.  He approached me after seeing my work at the Small Press and Alternative Comic Expo. It was really fun to work on this project. The image has pretty much everything I love to draw: bugs, leaves, skeletons, hands…. You can read his take on the project here.

I recently did the cover design for Mary Holland’s new novel, Matcher Rules. It’s available here as an ebook and here through Lulu. This was a fun project to work on, a change of pace from my usual work.
